Central Ohio

PRP-Columbus is a proud member of the Central Ohio Reuse Coalition.
CORC believes that reuse saves lives, saves money, and creates jobs.
Our Initiatives are:
1 Implement
Outreach and education strategies to create public demand for circular policies and solutions.
2 Advocate
For sensible policies and procedures that encourage reusable solutions and reduce disposables.
3 Encourage
Business owners, institutions, and event planners to facilitate a circular economy based on closed-loop solutions that replace disposables with reusables.
CORC is made up of nonprofits, local sustainability groups, green businesses, faith-based organizations and committed individuals who live and work in Central Ohio. CORC envisions a Central Ohio where the reuse of food and drink containers in businesses and schools is the model of choice and is supported by a reuse infrastructure.

Expanding on Our Initiatives
Outreach and Education Goals:
- Create public demand for circular policies and solutions to replace disposable "make-take-waste" packaging.
- Introduce food and drink container systems
- Influence public opinion as to the benefits of reusables and how those benefits outweigh the convenience of disposables
Advocacy Goals:
- Educate public officials on the benefits of policies that encourage reusables over disposables
- Launch a Skip the Stuff public awareness campaign, encouraging individuals to speak up for less waste
- Highlight to other municipalities how Bexley's (a suburb of Columbus') ban on disposable containers is working
Circular Economy Solutions Goals:
- Encourage and facilitate the circular economy initiatives and business-based, closed-loop solutions that replace disposables with reusables
- Reuse for Dine-In Pilot — we're currently at the engagement process with 8-10 restaurants and coffee shops with a plan to launch by 3Q2023
- Restaurant Blitz — App-based crowdsourcing for volunteers to perform sustainability audits on the go
